I’m a sucker for hidden gems and secret spots. Learn how to visit Pa’ako, Maui’s secret beach!

When they say secret, they mean secret. We drove back and forth and couldn’t find it, we thought it didn’t exist. Finally once we parked and walked around, we found the hidden entrance.

Address: Don’t look for the address, it will not take you anywhere close! Just search Pa’ako Beach in your map.

Directions: Coming from Kihei, after you pass the third Big Beach entrance (“Thirds”) on Makena Road, find some street parking. You are looking for a break in the dark rock wall just big enough for a small pathway.

Your hard work will be rewarded with a small, quiet, secluded beach that is no more than 60 yards in length. It was the perfect way for us to spend Christmas – on a beautiful beach where there were only a handful of other people at any given time. It was a nice change of pace from the touristy beaches we visited where we struggled to find space to lay two towels out.
